URCU is a SaaS expedition management platform designed for mountain guiding companies, offering end-to-end tools for booking, planning, execution, and oversight of expeditions. It integrates clients, guides, and equipment in one intuitive system accessible anywhere, streamlining operations and communication. URCU supports real-time updates, embedded payments, and AI-driven assistance to enhance customer support and safety. Its modular design allows agencies to manage customized trips, day tours, and multi-week expeditions with full logistics, gear, and guide coordination. Founded by experienced guides and entrepreneurs, URCU bridges technology and adventure, empowering outfitters to focus on what they love most—leading people into the mountains.

With years of trekking, climbing, guiding and launching companies, Nico and Felipe founded Urcu in 2024.

Nico Vélez

Nico Vélez is a mechanical engineer and seasoned entrepreneur with a background in mountaineering, tourism and agribusiness. He co-founded URCU and ORIJIN, built Ecuador’s first specialty coffee roaster Café Vélez, which was acquired by Zanetti from Italy. A former mountain guide in Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Antarctica, the United States, and Tibet, Nico blends field expertise and business acumen to drive innovative, interdisciplinary projects.

Felipe Valdés

Felipe Valdés is a technology executive and board member with 30+ years leading global fintech companies and land conservation initiatives. He co-founded Tiaxa, pioneering mobile nano-loans and alternative credit scoring for hundreds of millions of people in emerging countries before its acquisition by Bemobi (B3: BMOB), where he now serves on the board. A lifelong climber, Felipe loves the mountains, the sea, and the quiet trails where time seems to slow down.
